As disappointing as that may be, I'm glad you avoided actually buying a bleached anemone without knowing how to try nurturing it back to health. I was sold an RBTA about the size of a quarter that was also bleached and it cost me $80. That was back when I knew nothing about bleaching (though had read enough to take care of a healthy RBTA) and the store owner said it was "more expensive" because it was "a special color." When I found out it was bleached I came back and told the owner's wife about it, so she asked me to bring it back on the rock that it was attached to. Unfortunately that was my oldest, biggest rock that it had moved to. It also had formed a symbiotic relationship with my Clarkii clownfish in about 16 hours, so instead of explaining the situation to them (which they either would already know from knowledge or experience) I simply won't be coming back. I wrote a review on yelp.com, but it never showed up unless I was logged in (no one else sees it), and I even tried re-submitting it after months of it not showing up, and still can't get a review on there to critique them. (T & T Aquarium and Koi Pond of San Jose, CA)

Anyway, the bottom line is that dishonest aquarium owners are lame and RBTAs are sweet! Keep some cash for one on hand, you'll enjoy them and get a lot of compliments on them. I found a local reef aquarist on a bay area site and he sold me 2 of his split RBTA that are about 3" open for $70, both on the same rock. The Tomato Clownfish took to them within 15 seconds, and days later one of the RBTA moved from the original rock to a higher location in the tank.

If a storeowner is rude or dishonest, I don’t go back.

Go and buy a sheet of carbon or some thing good for the water and wrap the powerhead's with it. I use carbon pads and it doesnt restrict the flow and keeps the water crystal clear and keeps critters out. Coldshot has reccomended this long ago here but I guess it never caught on. When he gets around he will post some pics of the way he does it. He is still down pretty bad.

Look for Nylon "Tulle" (pronounced same as 'tool') in a fabric store. It's nylon and is a good sized mesh that won't restrict flow.
