Maybe someone can help me out. About 5 days ago i bought a rose bubble anemone for my 46 gallon tank.I was thinking that my clown fish would host the anemone but they havent even looked at it. Can clown fish host rose bubble anemones? The guy at the fish store told me they can. Also my anemone moves around the tank alot away from my lights.

You will have to wait for the BTA to settle in a spot it likes. Then the clowns can take a while to figure out the BTA is there. It takes awhile but they will host eventually.

I was told that my tank raised clown would not host for several days which was good because i bought both my bta and clown on the same day and i knew that the bta would take several days to settle in. But as luck would have it the clown headed straight from the bag to the bta. This wasnt a good thing and the bta continued to move around the tank cuz the clown was bugging the heck outta him. I did have covers over the powerheads but somehow he came up underneath the powerhead and got inbetween the cover and the powerhead and this was the demise of my first bta. Two weeks later i adopted another bta, first I replaced all the powerhead covers with much longer ones and rubberbanded the bottoms shut, took one of the old covers and put that on the filter intake and rubberbanded it closed. By then the little clown started hosting in my flowerpot coral which was bad for my flower pot, and as the clown got bigger it really started bothering the flowerpot which started closing on contact. Now he is happy as can be back in the bta and they have been together happily for about 5 months. Be patient, it will happen. Sorry for the ramble and good luck.

Yup, the clowns can take a while. With my first clown, he didnt go near the anemone hardly at all, then when i got the second she went in and then he followed shortly after...it just takes some time, eventually they will love it :)

Like everyone said, it can take time...sometimes a long time for a clown to find the anemone it will host in. It may never find it instead settling for something else in the tank to host in.

But, one thing I didn't see mentioned was....not all clowns will host in all anemones. In the wild certain clowns only associate with certain anemones. In captivity the chances are much better that it will host in an anemone foreign to it but there's no guarantee it will.

Without knowing your clown there's no way for me to know if it host in e. quadricolor in the wild but keep this in mind for future purchases.

now my rbt annomine split. The rbta got cought between two rocks and kept on streaching and split. at first they both didnt look to good now they look great. they have a great color on them. the split took place about 5 days ago. The only thing i see is that the annomines stiil seem shy and are not fully out from hiding.

Good point, yes, clowns are cheap. ;D I too, bought a BTA a week ago. I had a nice spot ready for him which accomodated his foot hiding needs and good lighting spot. Needless to say, he likes it and if he does move, he moves around that area until it feels completely comfortable.

I think anemones move away from the light because if there in a good lighted area, chances are they can be seen. They are really frightful of predators and want to feel secure wherever they take.

So far, my two ocellarises know it's there and from time to time, they just stare at it and swim near it like trying to figure out why they are so attracted to it. Hopefully they end up taking to it. Yes, clowns in the wild are only exposed to anemones commong to that particular reef but in captivity, eventhough they are exposed to an anemone unnatural to them, they still know it's an anemone and will probably host.
