So my i look at my tank like at 10:00am this morning and see my firefish swimming like he usually does then i come back at 11:00am and find this
    [IMG]heres the culprit
[IMG]im blind with fury then i calm down and think i just set up a tank that hasnt cycled yet so i put him in my uncycled tank i pray that he dies a slow and painfull death that firefish was my favorite fish!!!

Why not just bring him back to the LFS? He doesn't need to die for doing what crabs do.

Knowing crabs, hes probably gonna survive the "sentence". Also if its a newer tank, are you sure the firefish didnt die from ammonia, and then thte crab just did its job? I've never seen an emerald crab catch a live and healthy fish.

how do you know it was the emerald? if he was eating it the fish was probably already dead and he was just doing what he knows best.

Not to join the band wagon but I have a emerald and he doesn't bother anything alive. Pretty sure if the fish died he would be on it like now. Yes if he killed the fish maybe you would and me to want to punish him but we are the ones that are in control of are reef worlds and when stuff happens in them it is us that are responsible for the out come one way or another. Sorry for your loss.

The emerald did not kill your fish. It was eating the already dead firefish.
