    Hi

I've read the intructions and I'm confused!!

How much rowaphos do I put in the bag for a 50gal tank when using a cannister filter?

Basically my tank is 3 months old and I have had cyano which has now gone and now I'm getting a small amount of green hair and a light brown/orange algae on the sand, my phos us currently at 1.0 I did a 20% water change yesterday and phos is still 1.0
    Salinity Is 1.022
Ammonia nitrites and nitrates are all zero

Is this stage normal for a new tank ? If so should I just let it run it's course rather than trying to solve it?

What size container do you have? 100 ML container is good up to 200 gallons.

Keep up the water changes - are you using RO/DI ?

What animal's are in the tank if any? This will effect how you go about the solution.

PLease describe the entire set up, your maintenance, test kits etc. we'll fix ya up !

I know when I started out, I was over feeding which caused my phos to go up and on top of that I had a fish die that I could not find and by the time I did it was 90% consumed by my cuc so I left it in.. after that point I started getting cyano and diatom (orange stuff)

Learned from it, cut back on feeding to every other day for awhile, did some larger water changes and slowely brought my phos back down. now the tank is crystal clear and algae free.. fish may seem like they are starving to death when you feed them, it doesn't mean they are not completely satisfied with alittle less. Also skipping a day every now and then will make some of those fish you have forage alittle which helps out.

Also I wouldn't do water changes just when you see test results go up.. I would do a 10% weekly or 20% biweekly. This keeps a stable balance and removes phos and nitrates when you have a decent bioload, which you do.

    Ok.

Cyano, DOC, N03, P04 and old lighting (not going to be your issue)

Skim to remove the DOC’s, Rowaphos will eliminate you’re your phosphate rather quickly (your one container, 250 ML – use it all in your 55). Continue with water changes to reduce your nitrates. I suggest a large water change, lets say 30% and then weekly 20%’s.

Hair Algae and Cyano Bacteria both tend to feed off the same conditions.

Use RO/DI, do not over feed the tank, siphon detritus.

You can beef up your clean up crew and also do some hand pruning.
