Hi guys - We got a royal gramma from our lfs about 10 days ago, and seems fine, is eating okay, swims around unless he sees a shadow and then will dive back into his cave.

We've noticed a white line starting at the bottom of his eye. (For some reason, this is showing up kind of red on my screen.) Can anyone give us some insight?

    Here are our current parameters:

    Alk: 8
    Ammonia: 0
    Calcium: 380
    Nitrate: 0
    Nitrite: 0
    pH: 8.4
    Phosphate: 0
    SG: 1.024
    Temp: 77

We are feeding our tank a mix of Ocean Nutrition Formula Foods (Variety Pack), Omega One Veggie Flakes, brine shrimp as a treat every few days, and we just started supplementing with Vita Chem when we feed. On a side note, does anyone dose the water with Vita Chem, or just add it to the food?

Any suggestion/insight would be helpful! *Tanks* a lot!

This is the face he likes to make at the side of the tank. :cheesy:

He is ok. White lines like that are common on Royal Grammas, and it is just part of their appearance.
    Nice add!

Thanks JJL! We thought it might have been there when we bought it but weren't sure. Just nervous new aquarists, I guess!

Thanks! My hubby elwolfe took them. He waited for about 10 minutes trying to get that shot of the gramma with his mouth open. He swims over to the side of the tank and does that... I think he must be seeing a little of a reflection, right?

Good news! We were a bit worried he might have a case of Lateral Line Disease or something.
