I have a 55 gallon that's been running for almost 3 months with about 70 lbs of LR. Theres a "pair" of ocellaris and a sebae anemone they host. They are doing WONDERFUL, I moved them from my biocube a while back.

Anyways we finally decided to add another fish and fell in love with the royal gramma at the LFS and long story short we had an accident when we were acclimating him, but he did make it into the tank. He hid behind the LR immediately and we haven't seen him since. It's been a little over 24 hours since we put him in and have not had any sightings of him. I was curious as to how long I should wait before worrying if he's OK. :-/

what do you mean by "accident" i would wait another day or so and just keep a close eye, you should see him poke his head out every once in a while but if it is skittish it will hide when you start to walk near the tank and you may not see him.

long story short we turned around for a second and next thing we know the bag is empty and the fish is in the tank. It had floated for a substantial amount of time before we started acclimating to the water.

o, should be ok, i would be more worried of what was in the water in the bag, i thought maybe the fish dove onto the floor or something,

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of drip acclimating. parameters can go wild in the bag. They don't quite resemble the tank parameters. Some people swear by it, I don't use it. Should be fine. Grammas are very resilient.

it depends what your aclimmating, i tend to go faster with fish then drip buy adding a cup every couple of minutes, and judge how the live stock reacts.

they will hide until they setup a lair then they will hang out buy that and defend it. alot has to do with the agressiveness of tank mates and how far it feels safe to leave its cave

well we saw it peaking through a kinda small cave in the lr, if it picks that as its lair, then wouldn't there be an issue because the clowns are RIGHT next to it as the sebae they host picked a spot next to the "lair" ........dunno if that makes sense.

could be a issue with stinging of the gramma. i kinda think any turf conflict would end up with the gramma siting in its cave all day until feeding time.
