    Can you put a Royal Tuxedo Urchin in a 29 Gallon Oceanic BioCube?? Also is the biocube acrylic or glass??? Please let me know ASAP:-/

    Do you have much encrusting algae?? That is what they eat.

    They eat encrusting algae mostly, but also may snack on nuisance algae. It shouldn't be the staple of their diet though. Urchins aren't a member of your cleaning crew and won't scavenge whatever is lying around. They need a good algae crop. In hard times some urchins have been known to taste coral, but I wouldn't call them a reef liability.

    I love my urchins! I would keep one at most in a 29 biocube and that's only if you've got the algae to back it up, they're pigs!

    i had one but took it out, it left a trail where it ate the nice pink& purple coraline other than that they are cool the way they collect stuff on their spines

    the tanks are made of glass. and the tank is a 29 biocube. infact the water volume is more like 20 gallons.

    I have an urchin in a 12 gallon eclipse saltwater tank. He has been in there for many months, and is doing great. There is a lot of algae in the tank and he zips around everywhere. I also have chaeto algae in there that he seems to like to pick up and carry around. I had some of the red algae I bought and put in there, but he ate a large batch of it in a very short time.
