Well I found a used mag drive 12 for $100, I'm wondering if its too much flow? I have a RR 75g with a 1.5" drain pipe with a 1" return pipe. Is that a good deal for the pump?

Well I found out that it should work for my tank, although they transfer some heat so ill set it up externally.

You can attach a ball valve to the end of it to slow it down. I had to do that on mine. Then you heve to take into account the hight that the pump has push the water up to reach your tank.

Yea I figured with my head pressure, turning it down, and bends in return it'll be probably closer to 800gph-900gph.

I use one in my 55g and they dont transfer much heat, I also am going to use one in my 100g that I am setting up. I would use a gate valve though over a ball valve, a lot easier to adjust.

Hmmm I read online a few times people complained about it raising there tanks temp. Also heard of people not needing a heater bc of them. Maybe I just found some random conversation.

I had heard that they raise the temp also, so I turned it off for a few days to see and my tank dropped down to 68 degrees. I plugged my heater back in.

A mag 12 has a 3/4" output line. Your return is 1". With a wider return line than the pump has, your flow will be lowered as well as pressure.
