rsm 250 skimmer

i have had my red sea max 250 up and running for 5 days all live rock and live sand added. pumps are running fine skimmer has a bit of bubbley foam in half way up the neck but hasnt collected any waste, ive played with the air inlet but still no waste, just wondering why it hasnt collected any waste

 

not 100% familiar with this unit but does it have a flow adjustment on the discharge pipe? if so, turn it down slightly and give it a few hours. this should raise the foam head.

I just red the manual. you should be able to Lower the foam adjuster adn open teh air valve. too wet and you raise the foam adjuster. this came from page 51 of the manual.

 

ive pretth much tried everything, its just producing lots of watery foam, when i turn the air inlet down it doesnt produce anything

 

You probably have very little waste to skim right now if you are currently cycling. I never really saw anything in the cup on my RSM until I added fish. If you are just seeing small white bubbles, there is just nothing to skim yet. You will notice bigger bubbles with a little color to them once the skimmer is pulling waste out of the tank.

The skimmer is also very sensitive to changes in the water level. I believe mine worked best at the second notch from the top in the little water level window. Any changes in water level will cause it to over skim or not skim at all.
