    Update time!

Got my box in from Marinedepot! Pretty much my protein skimmer and some small odds and ends. With my protein skimmer in, i was able to partition off my sump. the skimmer takes more room than i hoped for since it does not fit in the tank longways, but o well.

Painted the back of the tank with Gloss Black Rustoleum. was going to paint it royal blue, but decided that I was going to be putting in some blue fish, I didn't want them to blend-in with any background color. Of course my son had to help!

and here is the finished tank from the front with some egg crate in it to protect the glass from the rocks.

I placed my RapidLED lighting order today so hopefully I get that by the weekend. My sand should come in the mail today but Im not doing anything with it right now. Wednesday my boxes from BRS.com come in and the real fun begins. Hopefully I'll have water in it by Friday and then the waiting game begins.

The only thing left I'm not sure what I'm doing is the electrical/wiring. I know I'm gonna need like 12+ outlets and at least 1 or 2 timers but I'd also like to be able to turn things off easily and avoid going through my wire bundles to identify wires. Anyone have any suggestions?

You could buy a controller. They are a little expensive, but from I've read/heard they make managing a tank very easy and you can get some that are expandable so if you upgrade you're not having to buy another one. Just a thought. Nice build so far. I just took apart my 90gallon a few months ago and I wish I could get it back up and running.

    Update!!!

The wife and I have been working on the tank alot and its time for an update!!!!

Got the RO/DI unit in and mounted it in my laundry room. I followed AZdesertrat's setup directions to rinse each filter and I'm getting 6 TDS out of the RO and 0 out of the DI.

I decided to go with the herbie style overflow after finding several threads complaining about durso standpipes. i have a 1 1/4" pipe above the bulkhead and 1" pipe below going to a tee with a ball valve on one side for the refugium and a gate valve on the other side going to the skimmer to control the flow.

Got 70 LBS. of Pukani rock from BRS.com and the wife loves it!!! she pretty much did the scape all on her own and she loves it. so its a keeper for now....ill probably change it a little later. this picture is just sand and rocks no water.

So I had this briliant idea to do the sand and rock first and let the water kinda trickle down the rock into the sand and prevent a sand storm....NOPE, it was more like Niagara falls and the sandstorm erupted the instant water hit it.

I'm on day 3 of the sandstorm and it is clearing up a little. The front side of most of the rock is visible now.

Now I'm waiting till I get the last 2 things I need. My refactometer and my heaters. Should be later today and then I'm ready to buy a few pieces of live rock and some live sand

    Yup she's definitely a keeper.
JK, but the wives tend to do a better job when it comes to scaping. In my tank, the wife is in charge of the scaping as well, she is good at it!

Gotta love Pukanis! and the BRS 5 stage RO/DI! (all the same stuff as we got 8) )

Have you started the RapidLED build yet?

(I can tell the kid is excited too :) )

Glad you asked!! I completely forgot I had put that away !!! I made an electrical control center kinda......at least that's what I'm calling it.

4 timed outlets to control the drivers and then 4 uncontrolled outlets for dimmer/fans /moonlight kit. Then I'm going to have 2 more power strips (ones already in picture) for powerheads, pump, heaters, and other misc. stuff. today the heatsinks come in and the fun begins with the LEDs!!!

Time for another update!!!! got everything pretty much finished!!!!

lights i built from RapidLED. a few scary moments when things didn't turn on the first try!!! but got it all sorted out and everything is good. My power center turned out well. Just need to figure out timing for my lights. I just realized that my timer dosen't turn different outlets on and off at different times its all outlets on or all outlets off. so im trying to decide what to do about that. I picked up a piece of LR from the LRS and threw it in the tank to help seed everything. got my first traces of ammonia yesterday so the cycle is beginning!!!!
