Nice update! Let it cycle, let it cycle. No dead shrimp piece or some ammonia source in there?

I am s l o w l y ordering my LED parts (you beat me...). How high are the fixtures from the water surface?

I threw in a peice of shrimp and from what i can tell it pretty much dissolved...i saw it about a day after i threw it and haven't seen it since...so idk what happened it. the LR i put in had some die off also so plenty of sources for ammonia. right now the lights are about a foot above the surface. IDK how high I want them but I think I might lower them a little tomorrow and see if i can get rid of the small shadow the center brace is leaving.

Heres a clear FTS!!!! I don't know anything about photo editing so its how it came off the camera. These pictures don't do it any justice...it is so much more impressive in person.

And a pic of me playing with my macro setting, for a picture of a power head I'm pretty impressed:

Just have to wait and see how good I am with pictures of fish!

As far as the tank is coming along. I got my first traces of Nitrites and Nitrates yesterday, but ammonia is still at 4 ppm, so the cycle is moving along!!!!

Sweet setup. Congrats on the rapid build! Are you going to put something around the heat sinks to finish it out?

as of right now, no. i kinda like the i built this look to them that they have right now. its impossible to see in that picture but there is a sheet of Lexan, about an inch from the lights that is mounted with the screws for the hanging kit with a spacer, to protect from splashes. i liked the angle aluminum that evolved used on his build but i wanted to keep looking into some other options.

Ohh man, u just gave me a good idea how to mount a piece of clear lexan on mine! I used black acrylic to build a housing around mine, I like the way it turned out.

Nice looking scape and LEDs! What type of rock did you use in your scape?

My first algae growth!!!! its pretty much on every rock and on the sand, especially on my piece of LR. anyone ID it? it brushes off the rock extremely easily and some of it has small air bubbles in it.

Tested my water after i noticed it

    Ammonia: .5 PPM
    Nitrites: off the chart
Nitrates:10-20 ppm, ALOT lower than yesterday, was almost off the chart yesterday.
