I believe some snails eat coralline! At least in my case. Easy way to tell if its coralline or not: scrub it with a tooth brush. If it doesnt come off easily, congrats, its coralline. I also have a bad news for you. The red stuff you got, bubbles underneath them is.... cyano. Did you say you have macroalgae in the sump/fuge?

Yes i just got some cheato for my sump today with the snails. Hopefully with that and some adjustments to how were feeding i can kill off this cyano.

I had a battle with it. But I won, so can you. I think it is just part having a new tank, when using dry rock.

Thanks for the heads up on the cyano. i found a cool video on YouTube that showed someone removing it with some air line tubing and a siphon. sucked almost all of it right out. I'm not too worried even if it does grow back it turns out its pretty easy to remove.

Got out a toothbrush and took it to some of the green algae and none of it moved, so it looks like it is coralline algae all over my rocks. im really impressed at how fast that grew in then!

We'll, my awesome wife woke up at 5 am and went to the LFS to get me an early X-mas present. Our first corals and a clam!!!!

    Clam:

It's a Blue Maxima, under my lights he looks purple but under the T5s at the LFS he was a dark blue and looked much better. have to look into why he dosent look so blue with my LEDs. He looks a little over extended to me right now, but i have my lights dimmed while i adjust every thing.

    My New Frag Rack:

From Left to right: GSP, Zoas, Frogspawn, Acropora

    and my Tree Coral:

This guy doesn't look like hes doing too well so far, but its been a long 24 hours for him, I'm still hopeful he will recover and is my wife's favorite out of all of them.

    And last a FTS:

;DVery cool. Congrats on the adds. Try to get a shot of that clam from a downward angle and you will be shocked at the difference in color you see top down.

    Awesome adds, congrats!

Try tweaking the color a bit. Royal Blues are good at making some colors pop. How are you running your LEDs, %? Cree LEDs are pretty intense, I have to lower the cool whites, otherwise they bleach.

Im running my Whites at about 60% and my blues at 50%. i have them turned down for now to acclimate my corals and i really have no idea how bright i can leave them at. so my plan is to turn them up little by little every few days till it gets to a setting that looks good

If you run more RB than CW, you might find the color of you liking. It's the beauty of the dimming control!
