Good thread... interestingly their are containers that are not safe and leach phosphates... This is what I have read.

The majority of the rubbermaid storage containers and garbage cans are safe.

I have a generic Cornerstone 25g container that hasn't given me problems over the years, it does have some brown buildup though, I was thinking it may be time for a new one...RO water used only.

A lot of the phosphate problems are just hearsay.
I have a friend who owns a plastic molding plant here in Phoenix and does contract work for Sterilite, Rubbermaid, Ace, True Value, Tupperware and many others. They are all made on the same lines, many with the same plastic blends and methods. More than anything, Rubbermaid, Sterilite and Tupperware have paid the huge sums of money to have their products tested and certified by the NSF for food ratings while others do not since trashcans and tubs are not something normally used in food preparation or storage. Its not that they are any different or bad, they just don't have the stamp of approval.

I have a 66gal rain barrel to hold my RODI water & a 32gal Rubbermaid Brute to hold my premade saltwater. I know it's over kill, but I always have extra water.

What's funny is that I top off my system with my RODI system's 3gal storage tank that is pressurized. The plus to this, is that I don't have to worry about a switch getting jammed on and over flowing my tank or running the risk of diluting my saltwater.
