Nature is what it is - why persecute the aggressor? It doesnt agree with your morals? Im pretty sure it doesnt care about your morals, it just does what its genetics dictate. smart? i dont know. For its native environment it must work

Whoa there a minute, just a minute!
Persecute? THAT was never my intention.

All my fish have a LOT of room to swim, and lots of caves, tunnels, etc.
    11 fish in a 125g.

By moving the agressor for a while, usually seems to change their behavior when re-introduced to the DT.

By removing the victum, when reintroduced- they are usually picked on even more.

I'm not trying to 'persecute' anyone

Anyone else think this is not a good plan?

I think removing the aggressor is the best course of action - assuming you can catch it.

In my case with the blue chromis, I had to remove the victim since he was almost dead. The Aggressor (the other Blue Chromis) took almost a month to catch. I tried everything - fish Net, Lights out, plastic bag, bottle trap, bare hands, plastic fish trap/trap door (he refused to enter the trap for any reason), I even tried fishing for it with an non-barbed hook.

In the end, I did catch the chromsi with the fish trap. The fish would bully all the other fish and eat all the food, but would not enter the trap whether I was in site or not - even after 2 days no food.

I figured out if I put food in the trap at one end of the tank, while I turned my back and faced the other end of the tank, pretending to no be paying attention, he would enter the trap - but only if I was standing there with my back turned.

Needless to say, it took only a few minutes to catch him once I figured that out. :-/

Remove the aggressor, pop him on the sump, give him a little while to cool his heels, reinsert him into the tank in a breeder net, he will show his true colors if he is still aggressive towards the flame, mthen it's time to visit the pet store !

Laughing with us, or at us? Either way, laughter is good.

UPdate, well, an open gallon ziplock (don't have a 2g) is in there, and so far, no one has gone in.

    Only about 30min though.

If my flame is in that bad of shape, I will remove him instead.
As of now, while his dorsal is tore up, he's holding his own and eating.

    It Worked!

The Flame swam in first, and after about 5 min. the Rust also wandered in!

I quickly put my hand near the opening and lifted the bag out, both of them trapped!
I used my hand, and got the flame out and back in the DT.

I walked down to the sump room, and put him in the skimmer section- about 8 gallons.

We'll see how this goes for awhile.

My Flame is already swimming like it's more at ease, and not up at the very corner of the tank.

Thanks for the tip on the baggie thing- it worked, and faster than I thought!

    He is
Thanks, after about 10min, I went to check on the Rust in the skimmer section.
I couldn't see well- bubbles, so I took the DT turn to the sump pipe out of the skimmer section so I could see better.
He jumped over the small barrier into the fuge section- where he is now.
    It's about 20ish gallons.

He'll be fine, and he has lots of chaeto and algae to eat also!

My Rust Angel is a beautiful fish, and I would lke to keep him and return him to the display.
He may stay there months until my 180 is up and going though.

    We'll see.

I'm going to let my Flame regrow his full Dorsal fin again first though.
