I bought a check valve or one way valve from home depot

this model Flotec Brass Check Valve 1 In. - TC2502 at The Home Depot

I was told it was not going to rust .. it is brass but i looked at it today and it has a green rusty build up on it..

It is directly in my sump tank connected to my return pump.. is this going to be an issue? will copper metals mess up my tank?

how much copper would have started to come out from the brass valve.. it was setup for probably a month.

Theres probably not enough for worry, honestly if it was in the tank you would have NO inverst left

Any really, you are fine, if you were not fine all your inverts would be dead already!

Nothing really once its in a tank you really cant use that tank anymore as it gets into the silicone and leaches back out....BUT like i said if everything is ok now then your fine

brass is a zinc and copper mix (alloy)so not a good idea on a reef tank, but like oceanparadise1 said you would already know if any leached as all your inverts would be dead.use plastic!
