Plans coming together now. I just purchased 20kg of Caribsea Fiji Pink substrate and also purchased 10kg of Miracle Mud for the Refugium.

I just need another 2 x 5kg substrate for the quarantine tanks and ill be good to go.

ahha well, doesn't life happen. Over the weekend my partner and I split up. So there goes the move.

But I am still stuck with a great deal of substrate/miracle mud/other aquarium stuff. So I think I will still go ahead with a staged tank "revival" instead.

I will re-do the sump first. Take it down and clean it out, and add the miracle mud into the refugium and upgrade the refugium lighting. I will still attempt to re do the over flow. I would like to get a dual overflow into two filter socks, but we will see if I have the space in the sump for that.

I will then connect the sump back up and let that settle and establish itself for a few weeks/months, then move onto the display. I will remove all the rock, coral and fish and remove all the substrate and replace this with new pretty fiji pink substrate, completely razor blade all the glass and make it schmick and clean, then add the rock back in and cycle it together for a while. I will leave the fish and coral in quarantine and add them back slowly.

In addition I will be giving the paint on the stand a tidy up and also making doors and slides.

Then I can look forward to slowly re-stocking and getting back a tank I am proud of.

Sorry to hear about the breakup.. So you're not moving now? I have to move next month and was going through the same thought process. I actually had to turn down a great looking townhouse cause it didn't have any good place for my 75gal to go. Good luck with everything and remember "there's plenty of other fish in the sea"!!

Yeah I wont be moving now. But since I bought a lot of stuff to move the fish tank and to do a few upgrades, I thought it best that I do them anyway. They are definitely in need, because I was planning on moving, I really put off the care and maintenance of the tank and thus its pretty much gone to ****.

Good luck with your move :). I hope it all goes well for you :). Thanks for the support :).

So sorry to hear Ryan. You are so young, perhaps it's not for good now but who knows :) I think your plan is absolutely perfect! Looking forward to seeing the new and improved tank!

But on the upside I got a sweet little derasa clam today :). I like the idea of a clam garden :)

Funny how that works.. I started to neglect my tank thinking I'm going to be breaking it down soon for the move. At the same time my LFS just got a bunch of new corals in I want to buy, but I'm on hold for a few months til I'm moved and water quality comes back.
