Here are some tank pics. The wife took the digital camera on a weekend road trip so the pics are marginal.

The Deep Blue Edge 75 is cool for the price- $410. It has some major flaws though. The overflow is HUGE. It has a bottom brace so in my opinion it's not a truly rimless tank and I would prefer black silicone over clear. On the positive: the glass is low iron, edges are clean, it is well built and the price was right. A custom 3 sided Starfire with a Gl*******s over flow would have cost close to $800 locally.

OK I'm off to plumb and hopefully get some water in here tonight.

Tank looks good! I will say I have to agree with you on the size of that overflow, but like you said, the price was right. And I love a rimless look. congratz on the purchase! and good luck with the plumbing.

The tank looks nice, but that overflow is giant. like you said. Do they use a special silicon on the rimless tanks that makes them stronger?

Goodluck with that tank and stand. They are very poorly made. I had to emergency replace my deep blue stand. A friend went thru three of those tanks and still didnt get a good tank.

    Hopefully youll be fine.

    Not sure about that.

Hopefully the tank will hold up. We'll see. I already have my eye on another tank and this one's still empty ;D

    Tonight after work- water!

They use leveling feet on steel stands, but they are on the bottom of each foot, dead center. I may be mistaken, but if the feet in question are these

Then I agree that you shouldn't use the leveling feet. That stand will probably sit pretty level on the tile. It's not an old house with wood floors, so I'm sure if anything, all you need are the wood shims. Just do it gradually, and make sure it's level, probably best to have at least a water test to the tank's waterline, to determine levelness of the tank/stand.

Can't wait to see it full of rock/coral/water/fish.

Thanks BTowned. The consensus seems to be against the feet.

I had planned on leak testing last night but I'm having a hard time with the overflow- the size of it that is. I'm putting it up on Craigslist today to see if I can get 400 bucks for it or close at least. If I can sell it I'm going to and have one custom made locally- probably a Reef Savvy.

The other option is to replace the overflow. Is that even a possibility?

I'm getting a little impatient but I can't see starting out with something I'm less than happy with. Let's see if I have any luck on CL today.

If you look at the overflow, it is actually 3 pieces of plastic siliconed together with two pieces of glass siliconed to the back of the tank and part of the sides of the overflow. Your only possile option is to remove the front of the overflow and replace it with a piece of flat plexiglass. This will take the curve out of the overflow, but it will still be huge.

The silicone job on those tanks is also shotty. Where the builders beveled the edges, there are normally a few gaps and bubbles in the silicone. The edges also weaken the hold because it takes needed surface area away from the edge.

The "temperered glass" etching on all 4 sides is also annoying. On one tank, the etching was on the top of a pane instead of hidden on the bottom.

It is a wise decision to get rid of that tank. You will be much happier with a custom tank. I was just looking at cadlight for a custom 48"x30"x20" rimless.

Agreed- fortunately these are at the bottom of my tank but no less annoying.

Just put the tank up on CL a few minutes ago, let's see what happens.

Well, the Deep Blue stays. It was either that or alimony and child support.

Got the sand in- 70 lbs of Caribsea Fiji Pink. It's giving me a good inch to inch and a half of depth throughout most of the tank. I like the look of it a lot. Not sure why they call it pink though. It isn't.

Also mounted the Reefkeeper Lite, Two PC4's and the SL1, plus the temp and ph probes to.

The drain and return are connected, so is the Mag 9. Everything simple and clean.

Got some dry base and live rock in a cooler out in the garage and a garbage can full of RO/DI. Gonna go make some salt water and fill this thing up finally.

    Excuse the crappy picutres please.
