The peppermint shrimp was evicted last night. I caught him for the third time harrassing the linckia starfish. The first two times it was just as the starfish wandered by the shrimp's hideout, so I figured it was just territorial. But last night the shrimp was literally stalking it, following it all around the tank, and when I waved it away, it would come back 30 seconds later. It was using it's pinchers to pick and rip at the starfishes tenticles underneath. Enough was enough.

I'm really suprised by this, as everywhere I've read says peppermints are peaceful towards inverts. I guess not this one...

No peppermint shrimp are pure evil IMO. They tried to tear open my duncan and ate all my maxi-mini anemones as I watched helplessly. They got feed every day but they continued to steal food from my corals constantly.

Oh, all my shrimp try to steal food from the corals during feeding as well, which is why I stand guard with the turkey baster to give 'em a little blast if they try to snitch.

My skunk cleaner leaves the starfish alone, it was just the peppermint. Dont know why, but my tank is a happy place, and so it shall remain. ;D

While the starfish still remains a mystery (still not 100% sure it's a linckia), I've managed to solve the mystery anthias. After thinking they were Dispar for a while, I've concluded they are Canberryi.

Nemanthias carberryi: The Carberryi Anthias is also known as the Threadfin Anthias and comes from the reefs of the Maldives and is a very striking fish. These Anthias are purple on the head and abdomen area and the back and tail are yellow. They are very active and help to draw out shier fish that share the tank with them.

Other pictures of females confirm that what I have are indeed Carberryi.

One has yet to morph into a male, but I'm patiently watching...

It looks very much like a Linckia to me. I really can not think of what other type it could be.

Wow, thanks for that link. Thats a much closer picture than anything else I could find. I guess it is a Linckia, but I too could not think of what other type it could be.

Lol, glad to know a few are still following. Dont have much going on right now... the boss put me on a budget, and I've been faithfully keeping it.

My ATO crapped out on me, and so that was replaced.

My return pump is starting to annoy me, it's a hyperflow 32, and I know there are quieter pumps out there... so I'm looking to upgrade that.

I've added a candy cane with 6-7 heads last week, it's on the bottom acclimating.

An encrusting monti was placed too high, too quick, and so it has come down and is very slowly recovering. Otherwise, the rest of the livestock is showing good growth and PE. The plating montis have grown 1/4-1/2" in the last month, depending on the type, and the green slimer has grown about 1/2" as well.

All the inhabitants are still very well and happy. My only concern is the starfish, I'm not sure if it's getting what it needs. I can't tell if it's shrunk at all, as a result of seeing it every day. It hangs out at the top of the tank on the front glass and travels the tank during dusk/night about every 2 days. Not sure if this is healty behavior or not?
