Sad but ready to start over

My goodness people, he just has algae from neglect, we don't even have pics of the tank it might not even be that bad? Start with a tooth brush and turkey baster and scrub the rock. Then step up your water changes if you did them every two weeks then do every week. Media and params are key. Try these things first before you start over completely. You can even cut back your light cycle, you have options other than starting over...

 

While I would normally agree with that method, in this situation where there is little to no livestock left, IMO, starting would be easier, faster and would ensure no immediate problems in the future. The OP could easily spend 3-4 weeks trying to get the algae under control, then another 6-8 to clean and cycle. I wouldn't want to do that and wait that long, so that's why I gave the advice I did. You are right though in that the algae may not be that bad.

 

Yah not sure it makes sense for me to try and salvage. I gave my Clown and Damsel to the LFS so they could not be in my messy tank anymore. I will take a pic you can see for yourself. i am sure you will tell me to start over as well. there is more than a little algae..

 

I will see if I have a pics of my mishaps, I was dealing with a mess and I worked threw it! I did loose a few corals (7 out of 38 to be exact) but it was less headache IMO!
