So bummed... Just realized my hippo tang is mia... pretty sure I saw him within the past couple days but no sign of him anywhere tonight. Its amazing how quickly a fish can just vanish in our tanks. Sigh. Everyone else is doing fine far as I can tell. I did lose a really small chromi a few weeks back but she was a couple years old now and we all know how flaky they are. :(

Maybe in the morning turn over some rocks to look for him? You don't want him decomposing causing an ammonia spike and killing any of your other fish....

+ some karma to help you get back up :).

Thanks, yeah I already dug around as much as I could and did a wc I had sitting ready to go. He wasn't huge but wasnt small either so I'm surprised I didn't find anything... though I've had so many fish get raptured over the years...

If you don't see a body, you might have a chance. I hate being optimistic sometimes, You'd be surprised how long those fish will hide. IMO, don't move any rocks around. Monitor your levels. Test for ammonia. Mine once hid for 3 days. I was certain he was dead, but the following morning out he came. Have you had it for a while, or a new addition?

Oh yeah I've had Him for a while... over a year... still no sign of him, I suppose there's a chance he's down hiding somewhere. When I moved rock I only moved the top layer so I could see down into his "spots" better but even still... like you said they can hide really well when they want to.

I say he's hiding since no body or ammonia spike. There goofy fish sometimes, that's why I like them;)
