We have been working on a budget and looking at what we need to do to be where we want in a couple of years..... unfortunately I ran a budget for the tank. Just operating exspenses come to $140-$150 a month. Food, water, electricity, chems/test kits, lights and a $100 thrown in for the unexpected. That isn't live stock or equipment which I'm good with now. I use BRS for everything and Pheonix 14ks are cheap and I don't use hardly any additives so it is not like it is an extravegant budget.

That's $1700 a year or 5 grand by the time that we want to sell the house in 3 years. That pays for all the stuff we need to do to the house to get it ready....... really hard to justify when you put everything down on paper.

Thanks for all the kind words. Unfortunately, I have never been known for my moderation. I'm generally a all or nothing kind of guy. ;D

I have thought about fragging, but that is more expense to set it up.... again the moderation thing ;D...... And my town has a small community and an overabundance of coral growers. That's good for buying, but no real money in selling frags around here.... most just trade stuff.

The main thing is that if its your desicion and your making it for the right reasons
then its a positive and as such although its certainly filled with an amount of sadness
    it wont manifest as regret

Ill echo the sentiments expressed by others, in that it would be appreciated by many, myself included, if you where to continue offering advice/ comments/ experience on this site

Good luck in your home upgrade in the future

dont be a stranger Powerman, please

Not even bothering to insult myself by trying to sell the whole system. I added everything up at very reasonable used prices and took 40% off and still nobody will pay that and I would loose my a$$. Parting it out will recoup a lot of money.

I make pretty good money but the wife has not been bringing much home going to school. Which definitely is what we both wanted. So things will get better but now we need to pay for it and get back on track.

I usually get into stuff and then run off to the latest greatest shinny thing that catches my eye. I always wanted a SW tank and I have not lost interest. There is no end to this hobby and it has been very enjoyable. So when I scope out the next house you can be sure I will be checking out what will make a good display area and equipment room.;D

Add some cumin powder and jalepenos, and you can have a fiesta! ;D

Seriously, you've been a great help around, and it's sad to see you go. I understand you gotta prioritize now. Do come back frequently to visit!

You will be missed by everyone here powerman. You should stick around the forums to help the newbs. At least you are selling it for the right reasons. A house is more important than a tank. At least keep the tank and stand. Sell everything else.

Sorry to hear man :( These things happen. I think I may be adding a similar post soon as well, actually. Hopefully down the road when you get your new house you can get yourself an even bigger tank :)

Make sure to factor in the cost of beano and air freshener. :D
