I have a 72 bowfront tank, the bottom already has two holes drilled in it for the sump drain and return. There is a sticker on the bottom panel of the tank that says "THIS BOTTOM IS TEMPERED GLASS - DO NOT DRILL"

Do you think its safe to drill the BACK panel of the aquarium?

Is it an All Glass tank? If so it SHOULD be safe to drill, at least slowly and with lots of water!!

    Good luck and happy drilling!!

I was told not to drill tempered glass by my local fish store.
They said to find a glass co. To do it for you .
I thought tempered meant stronger anyway?
    Who knows?

well, it says not to drill the BOTTOM, but it doesn't say anything about the other sides... so I'm on the fence about trying to drill the BACK panel.

If its an ALL GLASS tank then only the bottom is tempered. If it is a Perfecto, you will see an anchor tag, most likely all sides are tempered.

    I say drill away!!

I have a Perfecto and I just drilled the side instead of the bottom because most all tanks have a tempered bottom. Drill away. :)
