Sailfin Tang Differences?

    It could be a mutation, but I've never seen it before.

    I did a search it comes up as a read sea sailfin tang must be what they look like in maturity

    As SOSTOUDT pointed out that the Desjardinii Sailfin Tang comes from the red sea. So would that mean that the first set of pics would be a Desjardinii Sailfin Tang and the second website pics would be a regular sailfin tang. Boy am I confused now. LOL

    After the info you gave I did some more searching and you are right it is a red sea sailfin which is also the desjardinii Sailfin Tang

    The second is a mature desjardinii Sailfin Tang. My LFS has one like it. It's a beautiful fish.

    I am done with the tangs for now until I can get me one of those really big 1400 gallon tanks. That will never happen so the 3 I have is it for me.
