First off I want my fish to be a BIG healthy fish. I've only been feeding it once and I read the below please advise:

    Foods:
The Sailfin Tangs are primarily herbivores. In the wild they feed primarily on leafy macroalgae algae. This genus can store fat in their body cavities so may go through periods of non-feeding.
In the aquarium the majority of their intake will be vegetable matter, but they do need some meaty foods as well. Provide lots of marine algae, prepared frozen formulas containing algae or spirulina, frozen brine and mysid shrimp, and flake foods. Japanese Nori or other seaweed can be adhered tothe aquarium glass with a vegetable clip. An occasional live rock with micro and macro organisms will be greatly appreciated. Culturing macro algae like chaetomorphia in the tank is also a great idea. Feed 3 times a day in smaller amounts instead of a large quantity once a day. As continuous grazers, they will benefit from this and it will also keep the water quality higher over a longer period of time.
Providing a vitamin supplement (including vitamin C) can help provide for their nutritional needs, and vitamin C can help prevent or reduce Lateral Line Erosion (LLE). This can be done by soaking dried pellets with liquid vitamins, adding vitamins to the food, or adding a liquid vitamin into the water. It is also said that pellets soaked in garlic may help fend off Marine Ich. Some hobbyists also report success with supplemental foods such as previously boiled or frozen zucchini, broccoli, spinach, and leaf lettuce.

All very good advice. All tangs should be given access to vegetables 24 hours a day or as close as you can get to it.

Indeed that is good advice. I have a purple sailfin tang and if hes fed just one larger meal a day he gets cranky later on, where as smaller ones more often, he's very passive with the rest of the gang.

I keep a veggie clip loaded up all day for my grazers.

You mean a purple tang, right -like as your avatar? I have never heard of anything but a regular or a red sea sailfin tang called a sailfin.

I feed my fish (including 3 tangs- sailfin tang, kole tang, blue eye bristletooth) all rods reeffood. It has macroalgae like nori in it, but I do feed nori as well.

My tangs all graze on whatever they can find on the rocks and glass for veggie material as well.

They will eat all meat foods as well, but will get head and lateral line erosion if not fed enough veggies. As a matter of fact, my sailfin was sold to me by a friend that had not fed any veggies to him and he had HLLE. That was gone withing 2 months of feeding nori heavily with selcon added to their food.

Technical you could call many tangs sailfins. The fish we all commonly know as the sailfin is actually the Pacific Sailfin. All tangs in the Zebrasoma family are sailfins.

I guess, but how many times do you hear folks call anything but the red sea sailfin (desjardini) and the pacific sailfin, sailfins?

This is the first time I have heard it in 20+ years in this hobby.

Never of course, unless it's me being overly technical for the sole purpose of starting an argument I know I'll win:)
