Picked up a healthy sailfin tang with was eating and looking great. After 3 days he has ich. Started garlic and Selcon with it's nori and other food. Any other condemnations? I thought about running UV? Any drawback doing that on a SPS tank.

not really, a uv filter may be worth getting. as it will slow ich population in the water. and may be worth using during new additions

Before you do anything drastic. Give the fish some time to settle in. Probably the stress of a new home is what brought on the ich. keep the good diet and back the lights to 3-5 hours a day (stress reducer) mine have beaten ich every time on their own with no meds.

What robman said.. ich is a funny thing.. no matter how hard you try and reduce it it just gets worse in my oppinion. If you leave the fish alone and stay out of the tank it will clear up, thats probably the best cure and i should sell that in a bottle lol. The more you are in the tank and dosing with random chemicals which all recommend to remove carbon and quit running skimmer to reduce the quality of your water the worse the problem gets..

Keep your water prestine and try to stay out of the tank.. feed lots of nori and run a UV it is worth its money and will save you tons! Good luck.. be patient and try not to stress about it because that will result in stressing your fish.
