Saints Fan 420's 30 Gallon...Lots of Pics

I just recently got a derasa and love it! The two clams really suck up the Alk. though.

I Should've been more specific- how long has the clam been in your system?

 

ive had the clam for about 2 months, its roughly 2.5"..yeah it does soak up cal and alk, but i just switched from reef crystals to coralife and now i never have to dose anything, my mag is around 1450 alk 9 cal 520..these are pre mixed and i do weekly water changes so i have yet had to start topping off with kalk..Dosing is the whole reason i switched to coralife, i used to have to dose my system with so much stuff when i had reef crystals, its weird how just a change in salt can make your tank sooo much easier, its great i dont have to do anything extra but look at it..;D

 

yeah i love the patterns derasas have, mine was just outgrowing my tank, my brother has a 300 gallon so i let it go to a good home..my brother just came home to visit this weekend from dallas and he brought me a couple goodies. ill get some pics when i get time..

derasa are also great beginner clams, they dont require quite as much light as a crocea..

hey how are your zoas or palys doing today, have they opened or has the black gone away..

 

o Some are a little bit more "normal" today, gained their color back. two or three are still very black, but the overall colony is improving. Thanks again for the help.

 

yep..theyll bounce back in a couple days..

 

The ones that are black are super tiny now, almost shrinking. I'll give it a week.

 

ooo..thats not good, it sounds like they are melting, have you seen any disappearing..
