What color do i stop on. ? it starts off pink, then at 350 it goes more dark purple, then in the 400s is when it turned blue. So is the first color change to purple my correct reading? Or is the second color change to clear blue the correct reading?.

Cause i stopped when i seen the purple cause usually the colors are not exactly how they describe them in the directions.

then i just added the rest to see if it would change more and then it changed more blue so i dont know?

Ive been using red sea for Ca test, but right now turbo4603 brought me his salifert test kit and its pretty awesome (similiar to red sea but I think better). Luna is correct, when it turns blue.

As soon as mine goes from pink---->purple(ish) I count the next drop as my total # of drops. It's a pretty obvious change in color.
And an fyi if you don't already know: If you know that your C[SUB]a[/SUB] is atleast greater than 300ppm you can add 15 drops right off the bat.

We are talking a salifert calcium test, there is no drop counting involved. You use the syringe, adding drop by drop, but no need to count as you find out how high your calcium is by the amount remaining in the syringe. As posted before, the second color change to the clear blue is the correct reading to use.

Good thread. I was asking myself the same thing about the color. Some of these test kits are tough. API's phosphate is hard.

    lol

and i also like the saliferts kits the best. i like the big plastic vials way better than the small glass api vials. makes mixing way easier and more accurate. plus the 2 ml syringe makes getting the correct amount of water easier, and more accurate!
