Hey all , I got home today from work and checked my salinity, I have not checked it in about a week, but its at 1.021 !! All my LFS's are closed right now, is there anything I can do tonight? Should I raise it slowly? It was 1.024 a week ago

what do you use to measure with? if a hydrometer , did you measure multiple times? if a refractometer, it hasnt gone out of calibration? tryin to think of why your sg would have dropped like that. but if you do go to raise it, yes do it slowly.

Refractometer...I just calibrated it to make sure its accurate. Checked it twice. My fish are not happy....erratic swimming. grrrrrr

I don't mix my own water, I did a water change this weekend from store bought water, possible cause. Is there anything I can do to mix up some salt at home? I don't have any fish tank salt....any home remedies?

Ok, I guess I forgot about petco....I don't really think of them as a fish store. lol...I got some salt and brought it up slowly from 1.021 to 1.022. I will bring it up another notch in the morning.

you should always test SG of bought pre mix ;) lesson learned eh?

Sounds like you are doing the right thing. Don't raise it more than one point in 24 hours and you should be fine. At this point, I would do one more WC and after that just top off with SW.

    Good luck with the fish.

Another possible cause could be a slow leak somewhere in your system, better take a good look just in case.If you're losing some saltwater and topping off with fresh assuming it's from evaporation your salinity will slowly drop.
