Does anyone have any experience with this unit and it's usage?

Aquarium Testing, Controllers & Monitors: Pinpoint Salinity Monitor

I was looking at this for quick tank checks and to test my top-off and WC containers. My plan is to get as many electronic testers as possible to save money on buy test kits. I'm hoping for quick efficient accuracy.

Hi Marty...The reason that you don't see many responses to this is that salinity remains fairly constant. Remember, as long as you keep your water level consistant, your salt level should follow suit. Salt does not evaporate, only water. That is why top off is done with freshwater. Now on the other hand, If you like gadgets to impress your friends, by all means!!!! ( I like them too) Other than that, just get a refractometer to test your water change mix, compared to what you have in the tank, and adj accordingly.

I used to have a refractometer before, just looking to the future. I'm planning an RO/DI set-up in my reef room, so I was thinking it would be nice for making quick batches for water changes. Also looking at PH and nitrate monitors. Which is kinda why I asked. They are pricey and I wasn't sure if they were a must have or just a gadgety convenience. Thanks for the reply.

IMO...gadgety...I have a live temp probe on my chiller, and a live PH meter...other than that, I just test. Like I said earlier, It looks cool though!!

Thanks for the reply, I think a refractometer will be a great way to go. This will save me some money for stock. :)
