    Hello to all,
I was just wondering about what to keep my reef/fish tank Salinity should be. I was told 1.023 and im getting a lot of people saying it need to be 1.025-1.027. I would really like to know whats going to be best for the SPS LPS and fish and inverts of coarse. Thanks you..

the fish don't really care as long as its between 1.018-1.028.

the corals have more a more limited ability to regulate the elements in them, so they should have a closer salinity to there natural environment.
    people usually say 1.025-1.026

Personally I think its a little difficult to say what the correct salinity is for them since the ocean varies in salinity. So I would just stay with in 1.023-1.027.

Ditto. I keep mine around .25 - .26. But that is a personal preference.

I keep mine at 1.025 or 35ppt....Same thing, just different measurments.

When they say between 1.023 and 1.027, it just means most of those levels are safe, but 1.025 is the safest and best IMO...Just keep the tank topped off and get a refractometer and you should be straight.

Yep 1.025 here. I think the main thing is to be consistent. The fish will adapt but constant fluctuations can stress them out. Corals are even more susceptible.

    I agree 1.025 to 1.026 and use a refractometer.

Exactly, consistency is the key to salinity. Mine is 1.025. I just try to keep it constant. Bascially the same thing with Ph too. The best is 8.3 I believe, but the range is 7.9-8.4. As long as it is constant I think your ok.
