Hey fellow reefers. I could use a little help with a salinity issue as im having. My salinity reading is slightly above 1.026. How do I get this down to the 1.021-1.023 it should be at for a marine tank? I imagine i have to take out some water and add some "ro/di" water with no salt. My tank is 29 gallons and is currently on day 6 of the cycling process. Do i need to correct the salinity level before the cycle ends? Thank you in advance for all your advice... Oh i plan on having a FOWLR tank and MAYBE later adding some coral. I currently have about 70 lbs. of LR in the tank.

1.026 is what many look for. take a cup out of salt and replace with rodi once an hour to hit that mark.

you're fine! i'd just top off the next week or so with rodi! you could do a few small swap outs! maybe take a 1/2 gallon out and replace with just RODI over the next week till it drops! But that level why a touch high is fine! I think most keep theres at 1.025! Thts where mine is!

My SG is exactly 1.026. If you plan on corals, that's a good target level. !.023 - 1.025 will suffice, but you don't want to go lower than that.

If you're still cycling with no inhabitants, just remove some water and replace with RO/DI freshwater until you reach the desired level.
