salinity

    What is a good salinty to keep if I plan on having a small mixture of corals?

    is'nt that high ? I thought that salinity should be 1020-1024.

    That is what sea water is....and thats what i keep my salinity at. No one does in better than the ocean tho..no one..

    There's a long-standing myth that lower salinity is better for fish, although that has yet to actually be proven. The fact that fish can adapt and survive is not evidence that it's better. However, corals and inverts need a SG of at least 1.024. I, too, prefer 1.026, the same as NSW.

    Make sure you read up on the nitrogen cycle before you add anything alive :)

    FYI, you'll want to keep an extra close eye on the SG in your DT. It would be all too easy for it to slip down on you, which would be detrimental to corals and inverts. They really don't do well on the lower end of the SG "range".
