Does anyone know of a link that compares the ingredients of the top 10 Reef salt mixes ? Are they all basically the same. Synthetic salt with trace elements added? Is there any advantage to the so called "Pharmaceutical-grade " salts ?

I have been using Red Sea Coral Pro and I am thinking of a change and want to review whats out there.

I think I am between I/O Reef, Tropic Marin Pro and a couple others.
I like the Price of the IO Reef

Currently have FOWLR but wast to use the reef salt as someday when the water is ready, and I upgrade my lighting, i will make the additions.

I read the Salt links here with the Poll, but it was really out dated.

    Thanks and Cheers

ok I've always used plain ol' io. The only downfall to it is the calcium content mixes to about 350, but this is on a consistent basis and can be dealt with.

I use IO reef crystals. Very happy with it. I'm actually making a batch for a water change right now. I can list the levels later after it's had some time to mix.

Or you can use Reef Crystals for a couple of dollars more, Ca then goes up to ~400ppm. Otherwise exact same stuff...Plenty good enough for my softie and couple lps tank.

IIRC Red Sea is a solar evaporate with stuff added back to it. Almost all other salt brands are pure synthetic.

if it's not broke don't fix it right??? I already have to dose a butt load of calcium for my sps tank so a little more isn't going to kill me.
