I am mixing salt for the first time. The directions say to use 1.4 pounds of salt per 5 gallons. question, how many cups in a pound for red sea coral pro? i do not have an accurate scale for small weight.

    Thanks

I dont use red sea salt mix, but my petco mix uses 1 cup per 1 gallon of water for 1.023.. mix and stir.. you could always use a salinity meter to check before dumping into tank..

I use the same salt and I mix 1 cup per gal. sometimes just a pinch more to get my salinity to 1.025.

Most salts seem to be 1 cup per gallon. I use reef crystals and this is the mix for them also. I mix mine in 50 gallon increments and its one small bag in the box to 50 gallons so I just do it that way. If you have a small tank 50 gallons at a time is not feesable though.
