Any suggestions on a new tub or container to mix salt water. I have been using a Brute for the past year and it has developed a white film that I cant seem to remove. I plan on buying either a new Brute or something else, any suggestions ?

Yup I use a brut as well, plus if it's lasted a year I'd say that's not a bad investment

I use some off brand green trash can with wheels and a lid. Works great. What's wrong with a bit of white film? Simply salt residue. It is your salt mixing tub, right? Never tried to clean mine off. I guess I just don't know

There is nothing to be worried about. I used the same brute for 4 years and it had gunk caked up on it like you wouldn't believe. Never hurt a thing. If it really bothers you throw about 3 gallons of vinegar in there and fill it with water and let that mix for a week, should pretty well take care of it.

EDIT: While you are doing that you may as well drop your powerheads, return pump, and skimmer pump in there for about 3 hours or so each and let them clean up as well. You will be shocked at how much better they perform after.

A vinegar bath may do the trick

I do this pretty often now, more so to clean the power heads and returns and what not.. but in the process my brute comes out looking darn near new.

You can buy a polyethylene tank, but unless you just feel like spending a lot of money or you need a larger mixing container than a trash can, just stick with what you've got.

I use a polyethylene tank, but I also mix 200+ gallon at a pop.
