I've had my aquarium running for a week w/salt, it hasn't completely dissolved, approximately a couple of tbs. I'm using Red Sea coral pro salt for ro water. Temperature is 78, has anyone had this problem? My rock will be here soon I went ahead and mixed my water before hand, did I do this wrong or what? My salinity is 37ppm, spg is 1.027. I know this is a little high but thought I would adjust when rock got here.

    thanks

I agree, it's probably sand. When I set up my aquarium I had sand everywhere, even stuck all over the glass.

Do you have any movement in the tank?

If you only have water and salt in there, then you need more water movement to dissolve the salt more thoroughly, the sump probably won't be enough on its own.

i also think its sand, when i set my 120 up i had my sump going 2K2s, 2K3s and a seio 1500 and i had sand in there till i sucked it out, there must be small amounts of some sort of sand or something else in the salt mix because i know i had plenty of current?

1.027 is a bit high, like you mentioned. Why wait for the rocks to arrive, I would just adjust it down now. If you happen to have good hitchhikers on the rock, the high SG may wipe them out since they will be stressed from the shipping. Just add some fresh RO/DI water and get it down to 1.022-1.024 and you will be fine.
There is a slight possibility that the salt mixture is just supersaturating and precipitating, given it's not sand you are seeing.

i agree.... get the salinity in check before you add the rock in case you have any positive hitchhikers. it'll also help you learn how to raise/lower your salinity in the future. (granted its not rocket science, but it gives you an idea of how much RO water it takes before you actually reduce the salinity a point)
