OKay well i have biocube 29 gallon, and I am currently using Oceanic Salt. I currently only have 2 fish in there, but I was wondering to start a reef tank like coral and anem, would i need reef specific salt? Or will just Oceanic Salt do just fine?

there was a pole recently on here - 20 plus people voted on choices given for favourite salt mix - Oceanic finished second to Reef Crystals on that poll

Im sure some of these voters had reef tanks

Agreed, try to use salt mixes that are made with a reef set up in mind.

oceanic salt is good for a reef. It has high calcium and mag. you may need to add some supplements to keep the alk up, but you will have to supplement any salt you buy. If you are happy with the oceanic salt, then keep using it. I have been using it for 1.5 yrs with no problems. you will hear lots of opinions on the "best" reef salt, but the bottom line is, if it works for YOU then why change it up.

    on the packaging Mkizla

what levels does it indicate for Calcium and Magnesium ?

Robman was one person with a reef tank that uses Oceanic, and he reported levels where better with that brand than with the Reef Crystals he used before and Im positive others have also posted good comments about Oceanic salt mix

Im confident you can use it at present and if later you decide to switch brands, you can do
no need to discard what you already have IMO

do a search on Oceanic on this site - you will find other posts about it, you can then make an informed decision

the guys are right, there are possibly better salt mixes ( I used to like Reef Crystals but have found a new favourite in Red Sea coral pro)

sometimes personal taste comes into the equation as many of the salt mixes are much of a muchness IMO
