    For me it was:
IO- low cal/alk, why do a water change and haave to play catch up.
Reef Crystals- better cal/alk, mixes slow, expense locally.
Oceanic-favorite right now. High Cal, moderate alk. Mixes fast. Decent price.

Wouldn't mind trying tropic marin or seachem if I get around to mailordering salt.

Currently I am using Seachem Reef and it doesn't mix completely and leaves sediment in the bottom of the mix bucket. I will be trying tropic marin and will buy some tomorrow for my next water change

Instant Ocean, but hey what do I know. I haven't even put fish in yet. Ammonia still at 1ppm and Nitrites is at 5ppm. Not there yet, but I'm getting closer. No fish, but I'm on my second bucket of IO. Water changes for ammonia and all!!!

I'm using something called Dophin Marine Salt, fairly new on the market. I just mixed half a tank worth two days ago and it's still quite cloudy. I got four powerheads going so I'm hoping things will clear up soon. Perhaps the salt wasn't mixed well enough (my screw-up, I guess). My question to the board is do I stop now and start all over or should I use something more well-known. Should I give the present mixture more time to clear-up or am I hoping in vain?

    Thanks.

I was originally using instant ocean. Then I switched to the new Sea Chem salt because my LFS was out of IO. I am going to switch back on the next bucket. I find the Sea Chem salt dissolves quickly (from the granule state) but it makes the water cloudy for a while and it leaves a residue in my mix buckets, even after 24 hours of aeration.
