Getting ready to setup an extra water drum for fresh salt water setup. Looking for some answers to my concerns. It will be in a Food Grade 50 gallon drum that can be sealed air tight.

    1) Do I need to mix it at tank temp?

    2) If the answer to #2 is yes do I need to keep it heated?

My plan was to fill with RO\DI water heat than mix to proper salinity. Than remove heater. The day before water change turn on pump to mix water. Than put desired amount in container add power head and heat. Check salinity than do water change. Once I depleted the drum start over. Figure this will help me stay on schedule with my water changes if I had water ready. Let me know your thoughts. Sure someone else has done this.

    Thanks,
    Ardo

Just mix it and let it be if its at room temps I would not worry about the temps for a simple water change . Its not that big of a deal. unless you are going to do a 50% one ? I keep a 50gal tank of salt and fresh water on hand all the time in the basement its cooler but I don't heat them . Water is 60 to 65 F I'd guess thats the air temps down there if the thermostat is not calling for heat..

Thanks for the quick reply. Never really thought about just leaving room temp, but it make sense.
