    my level is 1.018 instead of 1.02 is that too high or too low

    It's a little low. You want to get it up around 1.024 to 1.025. Are you using a hydrometer or refractometer to check it?

    That is too low. You want your salinty to be between 1.20 and 1.25. Most people prefer it above 1.023 (I keep mine between 1.022-1.025) but depends what is in the tank. Also how are your measuring it? Hydrometers are really unreliable. Refractormeters work great!

    Salinity is low and per the previous two posts. If you are going FOWLR it would be OK, but you should get it up to 1.021 in that case.

    If you can get a refractometer, they are more accurate and the reading doesn't drift with age as a hydrometer does.

    i have 20 bettas but this is not for them i have started a saltwater to get me some saltwater fish
