i would start off with instant ocean salt, its a good "all around" salt, and as long as you dont do a huge 90% water change on them witht eh new salt then you will be ok. just keep doing your 10% water changes ever two weeks and eventually itll be all your salt. what you wanna make sure you get is RO/DI water, not just RO. and when you mix it, bring it up to temp with your tank, and your tanks SG, and let it sit over night, then add it the next day so you can ensure its 100% dissolved, and its balances out its pH and what not. all you need is RO/DI water, a small powerhead, and a heater, and a bucket:) oh yea and your salt. come to think of it it really doesnt matter what salt you start with, but when changing from one thing to a nother, you want to do it in small steps, rather than one huge change all at once. hope this helps ya out some.

I would just use IO like stated above. I have 3 5 gallon water jugs that I gull up at Walmart with the Culigan RO/DI system they have there for 0.33 cents a gallon.

Wow, that is confusing. I think you are asking if you can just buy water from Walmart and add salt to it? The answer is yes. You then just need to the SG of it and make sure all the salt is dissolved and bring it up to temp. Then you can add it to your tank.

+1 ;D You only want to use salt that is made for salt water aquariums that you would get from a pet store. As for water, try to find a good source of RO/DI water.

Respectfully I say you stick with the LFS water until you get your confidence up. We cannot do that for you, I suggest you go to the BRS website and start watching r/o videos.

    GOOD LUCK!
