Saltwater ICH Q

Is saltwater ICH a warm water parasite or a cold water parasite or just a parasite?

 

I know you can get it in warm water, unsure of cold.

 

Ich is accelerated by warmer, at least its life cycle is. Ich can be found itanks at 74 degrees as well as 82. The key to ich my friends is a fishes immunity. The first step is to keep the water column and substrate clean as parasites like ich thrive in organic laden water. After that start feeding your fish with high quality foods soaked in both vitamins and garlic to boost immune system. Once water column is cleared of the days feeding, shut off the skimmer and dose with Melafix/Primafix combo, Herbana, Kick-Ich, whatever you wanna try as they all work provided the prior two conditions are met. A forth thing you can do which helps tremendously is buy a cleaner goby and a cleaner shrimp or two. A few of my fish owe their lives to these guys.

The right balance has to be acheived between the skimmer, food and medicine. The skimmers gotta go off or it will go nuts and remove most of the ingredients of the medicine. But you need it on to keep the water column clean of the organics that will build from the food and its waste. So its a matter of dosing, feeding, skimming.. dosing, feeding, skimming until the full life cycle of the ich has been treated. I think its 10 days so if you can do all that you may actually have yourself a truley ich free tank. Otherwise your tank will be like so many others, held at bay by superior water quality and cleaners. But to be completely ich free the parasite has to find no host for many days.

 

whats the matter, too much info? Just tryin to help guys. This is just my experience with this common ailment and I thought Id share whats worked for me as I see 19 out of 20 posts in this category about ich. The fact that no ones niether agreed or disagreed with the post makes me wonder what I did wrong lol.
