hey guys, ordered some fish from petco getting them in the mail tomorrow so I want to make sure I got my stuff ready...

I put water in the tank
    mixed the sea salt
put the live sand in there
    and the live rock
my heater is in there as well as my thermostat
the filter is setup as well as the airpump on each side

my water is salinity is correct, 1.020-1.025

here are some questions i have:

the water is still a little cloudy from the sand being dropped in there, and from me putting the rock in. so far its been 24hrs and its still a little cloudy should i wait another day and see how it looks? will turning the filter on help eliminate any of the cloudyness?

how do i deposit the fish in? is there a proper technique to depositing new fish into a tank? im sure there is.

last question would be about lighting, is there any specific lighting i could buy that works for coral too that is a blueish hue?

    Welcome to 3Reef!!!!

I put water in the tank RO/DI WATER OR DECHLORINATED TAPWATER?
    mixed the sea salt
put the live sand in there
and the live rock Was the live rock fully cured?
my heater is in there as well as my thermostat
the filter is setup as well as the airpump on each side What kind of filter? What are the air pumps for?

my water is salinity is correct, 1.020-1.025 What salinity exactly?

here are some questions i have:

the water is still a little cloudy from the sand being dropped in there, and from me putting the rock in. so far its been 24hrs and its still a little cloudy should i wait another day and see how it looks? will turning the filter on help eliminate any of the cloudyness? It's hard to say. What kind of filter?

how do i deposit the fish in? is there a proper technique to depositing new fish into a tank? im sure there is. Yes, float the bags with the lights off until the temperature matches the tank. Then you test the salinity in the bag and compare that to the salinity in the tank. If they are close, you can transfer a small amount of the water into the bag every 10 minutes or so until the salinity matches (this is because most fish are shipped at a much lower salinity than you would ever want in your tank)

last question would be about lighting, is there any specific lighting i could buy that works for coral too that is a blueish hue? We need to know the size of the tank and what types of corals you want to eventually keep to answer this question[/QUOTE]

I'm going to hope you only got 1 fish, and not 6.

That was one of my questions too and forgot to ask it. Thanks for catching that.

what fish did you order? whats the size of your tank? is your rock cured?

your tank is not cycled yet.. it isnt advisable to add any fish until you have your tank cycled.. ( unless you are cycling with a fish like a damsel..)

um do you know what "cycling a tank" is? ( just curious)

I wouldn't worry about whether it's 1.020 or 1.025 at this point; most fish should be cool with anything in that range, if not much lower too. A refractometer or conductivity meter is a must though, as that number is likely wrong.

Hopefully the rock is cured, otherwise he doesn't really need anything to cycle for a little while anyway.

conductivity meter? Last i checked these don't measure your salinity in any form.

I hope your petco fish arrives in good condition. Do you have any LFS besides petco? 3reef will be one of your best resources for the hobby as well as a LFS that treats you properly.
