I didn't use any live rock, I went with 100% base rock. I wanted to make sure I didn't get any nuisance hitchhikers...

As a 65 owner myself, try and remember that you will want room for corals in front of the rocks and far enough away from the glass that when the algae comes (which it will) you want to be able to get in with a mag float and get rid of it. Also I would invest in 2 reactors (49 each) and run cabon and GFO. This should help with the coming algae explosion. I started with all base rock myself, but after a extremely slow start, I bought a few pounds of choice live rock which caused my tank to seed very fast. good luck!

I don't think you need to run carbon till you have some inhabitants. To start a cycle you just need to add something that will decay. I used a peeled table shrimp, I've also heard that people use fish food too. I personally would add a cuc till your diatom bloom or algea starts showing up. That way they have something to eat...

I started with a pair of clowns they are nice hardy fish in the same family as Damselfish. But unlike Damsels, they are not a PITA that you will have to tear apart your tank to get them. Your cycle wont start unless you have some kind of bio load, fish+food= poop, and nitrites/nitrates. This will get your system going. I would order your CUC soon, becasuse you will have an algae explosion soon.

Me personally, I'm kind of against cycling with fish. A peeled table shrimp will do the trick just fine.

+1000 to the shrimp. I'd rather read about someone peeing in their tank to make ammonia than using a live fish.

Tank looks good IMO. Just be patient and take your time. If you start forcing things you'll crash and burn hard.
