what does everybody use to keep there sand bed nice and white? my lawnmower blenny does a good job stiring up the sand in the back of the tank. he is shy so he never comes to the front. my tank is about 4 months old and i get alot of brown algea. when it gets really bad i can skim the top with my vaccum. i dont have any critters yet but plan on after christmas.

you can skim it as you said. I use a gravel cleaner to clean out some exposed sand which is about 30% floor space of the tank.

Get some nassarius snails and a sandsifting goby.  Lawnmower blennys aren't really known for sandsifting but the two animals I just mentioned are  :)

Nassarius are good but try one fighting conch per 2 sq/ft of tank bottom.
