Sand bed ?

    i was wondering about leaving old shells and such on the sand bed. i notice that detritus tends to build up in these areas that have stuff on top of the sand. Should i remove these items? will this keep the sand bed cleaner?

    If you don't need the extra shells for hermit crabs, I'd take them out. I remove old shells when they build up. I keep a lot of dwarf cerith snails and the little shells do accumulate with die off.
