Nassarius would be your best bet.

Nassarius snails do a good job stirring the sand somewhat but they are carnivores. I don't think they will give you the clean sand bed you want. I have a bunch in my tank but you need something that sifts off the top like a cucumber. It eats the sand and poops out nice clean fresh white sand.

Agree, a nassarius snail or 2 would probably be your best bet. I dont think an 8 gal could substain a cucumber in the long run. I have a couple, but they are in a 120 gal.

i've got a single strombus snail in my 7 gal, its fairly new sand but has been spotless the last couple months.
actually sometimes i think i should be feeding him algae flakes or something to keep him going :-/

I feed my turbos supplement seaweed and they go to town on it when my aquarium is clean.
