    Hey everyone I am haveing trouble with a grey looking diatom growing on my sand. does anyone know what would be the best cleaner or sand shifter to help eliminate this problem?

    Yea, a great creature would be the rare and elusive siphon fish. It's very long and clear and hollow inside. It enjoy eating cyno bacteria, detritus, diatoms and just about anything else on the sand bed. It's real easy to keep too and can be found at any hardware store.

    If you can't tell, I'm joking, but IMO the best thing to deal with what it sounds like you have is to just siphon it out when you do your water changes. I've found that most sand sifters just don't do exactly what you want them to do. BTW, can you post a pic of what your describing?
