sand/crushed coral mix ,, what should i do??

    hi people i cant decide what i want to do about my sand bed.. i was putting crushed coral in it the outher day and thought about using that on 2/3 of the bed and a fine sand on the outher 1/3.. will this cause me problems or should i be fine? thanks for your input

    after awhile its going to become mixed and not very good IMO. I say just go with a 2 to 3 inch sand bed

    You will need to siphon the crushed coral side often to keep detritus build up to a minimum otherwise you will have nitrate problems. I would suggest not doing this at all.

    should i use just crushed coral? or just sand? ive heard that the crushed coral helps keep ph right.. thats what i used on my outher 2 tanks, but this one i want to be really nice .. any input helps

    CC in reef tanks is a big no no. Do sand.

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Use aragonite IMO.

    I had some CC that came with my tank and it's vey sharp and not good for burrowing fish and such. I did however find some faily fine grade CC that is like a coarse sand and is fin. I did a mix of that and 2 other grades of sand.
