Food particles can get trapped and work there way down where nothing can find them in CC

fine sand, or a sand grade that wont get blown about by your powerheads is the best option IMO

also fish like Wrasse that sleep in the sand bed, would not appreciate CC

Better to not go with CC as mentioned above.... if you can, replace it all with aragonite/ reef sand.

And make sure it's not sugury sand, I had bad experience could not get my powerhead right and had bad sand storm, well not to bad but just enough to make my tank look crapy. I siphon it out and replace it with aragonite sand for reef.

Sorry, but I disagree... I use about 1/3 aragonite and 2/3 sugar/ oolitic sand. I never have problems with it going everywhere, my gobies seem to love it, and it looks great, IMO.

If your sand is causing sandstorms that cloud the water longer than one day, your tank is probably just too new... as IME, as tank gets older biofilm seems to "hold" the sand down more or maybe the very fine loose stuff has just been whisked away. I seriously never have problems with it, and I have a sand-sifting goby and really good strong flow.

    I agree.

IME this is something a lot of people say, but I have never had an issue.

My tank is running 2+ years, CC whole time, 0 nitrates since cycle finished...

I disturb the bed as little as possible. I do have burrowing snails.

Conchs won't live in it though...
